Peaks Challenge Falls Creek 2024

CAMS is OFFERING TRAINING/TRAVEL PACKAGES TO PEAKS March 2024

Are you looking for a cycling challenge in 2024? Keen to ride one of the world’s ‘top 10’ toughest one day cycling events? The team at CAMS will help you conquer Peaks Challenge Falls Creek in 2024. We offer complete packages including the event weekend itself and all peaks training rides (starting OCT 2023), and a tried and tested Peaks training program.

With training beginning in early October now is the time to start make your decisions.

The traditional Peaks Challenge is a 235km loop ride starting at Falls Creek and riding up Tawonga Gap, Mount Hotham and through Omeo before heading up the back of Falls Creek to take on the first pinch (WTF Corner), and the ascent The Beast. It’s a steep and relentless climb with little reprieve.

You don't need to be a Peaks Challenge rider to be part of the training fun!  If you would like to join Peaks training rides for other goals you may have - you are welcome - the more the merrier!

TOP 5 REASONS TO INCORPORATE PEAKS TRAINING THIS SUMMER:

1. Increase your base fitness, strength and bike handling skills
2. To get a feel for Peaks training if you have ever thought about taking on the challenge.
3. Prepare for CAMS Tour of Bright
4. Prepare for another cycling or Ironman event in early 2024
5. To support your fellow riders, good times, and great company

SUGGESTED MINIMUM PARTICIPATION FOR NON PEAKERS. As Peaks training rides increase in elevation, distance and/or time over the Summer months, we suggest you participate at least every 3 weeks and maintain consistency with your own training in between. This will allow you to retain enough fitness to stay with the group when you join. Prices for the rides are: 12 month members $300, 6 month members $300, Other members $350, Non Members $400, Returning non members $350. If you are interested in Peaks Training rides let us know HERE.

NOTE: CAMS Tour of Bright training camp will be held in 2 - 12 February 2024, and is a great way to gain confidence with each of the climbs and descents under the guidance of our experienced coaches.

L’Étape Australia Challenge - if it is on in 2024 we will look at it

REGISTER YOUR INTEREST NOW!

The only Tour De France event in Australia is back with a new course in 2022. CAMS is keen to take a group of riders this year, with packages including group travel, bike transport and accommodation.

L’Étape Australia replicates a mountainous stage of the Tour de France. It is not an easy ride, but it is a ride you will be able and proud to complete if you train for it.

The fifth edition of L’Étape Australia by Tour de France will take place on Sunday 27 November between Wollongong and Kiama. Thousands of cyclists, their friends and families are expected to participate in L’Étape Australia. They will be provided with an experience not available anywhere else: fully closed roads, world-class mechanical assistance provided by Shimano and the unmatched warm Tour de France atmosphere.

The 2022 route will start in Wollongong, home of the 2022 UCI Road World Championships. The riders will travel South towards Macquarie Pass, which they will have to conquer once if they want to complete The Ride, the shorter distance, or twice if they intend to complete the flagship distance, The Race. All the participants will then travel through the beautiful village of Jamberoo before hitting the last climb of the day, Saddleback Mountain. The riders will be rewarded with a stunning view over the coastline and the rolling descent towards the beautiful coastal town of Kiama.

The distance is 143km and the elevation 2,701m. The Ride, a shorter version of The Race with only one climb, is 90km with 1,619m of elevation.

If you are keen to be part of the CAMS 2022 group please REGISTER YOUR INTEREST as soon as possible so we can start to put the package options together. Event details HERE.
